Man Who Dived From Traffic Sign Dies From Injuries

The South Gate Police Department was informed of the man's death.

  The man that jumped from a traffic light on the southwest corner of Imperial Highway and Garfield Avenue, last Tuesday afternoon, has been pronounced dead, according to police. “He died because of his injuries,” said Lieutenant Frank “Pico” Rivera of the South Gate Police Department. “His family has been notified.” The police ruled the man’s death as a suicide, and was on scene, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, trying to convince him to not jump. Witnesses to the fall say that the man fell head first into the pavement. “The hospital told us that the subject was be brain dead,” said Lt. Rivera. “He was unplugged from a life support machine.” The announcement of the man’s death was made today, but the death certificate …

South Gate's Greatest Little Chef Competition To Take Place Tomorrow

The 11 finalist have been picked.

  South Gate will get a chance to see some of the culinary talents of its youngest generation during the Health Fair that will take place this Friday at South Gate Park.  The following 11 finalists have been selected:   The finalists should report to the contest booth at 5:00 pm and come with their dish that is big enough for ten people to share it. They should also be ready to answer why they selected their recipe, and what is that makes their entry a healthy dish.  From 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. certificates and scholarships will be awarded by the Young Professional's, Sam's Club and IHOP. All 11 finalists will receive all sorts of certificates. These wil include, one for a meal at Elelphant Bar, for a dessert in IHOP, for a meal at Mimi's …

Southbound 710 Traffic Still Very Slow From 2 Traffic Collisions

Traffic is moving at about 10-20 mph.

Traffic is moving very slow on the southbound 710 freeway with cars going about 10-20 miles per hour due to two car accidents within two hours. A car accident, just south of the Firestone Boulevard exit, between a gray Toyota Camry and green Jeep Cherokee occurred around 9:11 a.m. No injuries were reported.  Another accident at the Los Angeles River area on the freeway at around 8:15 a.m. began the delay on the freeway.  The accident involved a white van and red truck. Traffic is backed up past the 5 freeway.

3 Suspects Arrested For Allegedly Kidnapping Lynwood Man

The suspects were booked at the Century Sheriff's Station, Wednesday, and being held in lieu of $1 million dollar bail.

Leer en Esapañol.  Three men were arrested Wednesday in connection with the kidnapping of a Lynwood man. The abduction occurred around noon Tuesday, said Deputy Mark Pope of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The 27-year-old victim was found by authorities in his vehicle at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday after deputies were notified of the kidnapping around 12:00 a.m. that morning. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, Pope said. Authorities did not disclose where the kidnapping occurred, or where or when the three men were arrested. The three Hispanic adult males were booked for kidnapping at the Century Sheriff's Station, where they are being held in lieu of $1 million dollar bail. Their names …

Desire for Jobs Leads Many To Remove Tattoos

A South Gate tattoo removal clinic has seen a rise in demand for its services by those who now see their inked creations as a disadvantage.

He currently has three, but would now like to have the two on his left arm removed. The unfinished abstract creation on his shoulder and the triple x’s on his wrists are not compatible with the place he would like to work in. “The restaurant where I want to work says that tattoos have to be above the sleeve or not show,” said Gintz, who said that it would be uncomfortable for him to work with a long sleeve shirt. “I want to get this job.” Gintz happened to be in South Gate while shopping for dog food, before stumbling upon Tattoo Removal Inc. on Imperial Highway.  He was hoping to get more …

UPDATE: Kidnapped Man Found At Huntington Park Residence

The abduction occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

5:30pm-Three people have been detained for questioning after an apparent kidnapping in Huntington Park. Sheriff's officials surrounded an apartment building earlier today in search of suspects ... and the Lynwood man who was abducted was rescued. It's still unclear what the kidnapping was about ... or how the suspects were caught. 2:00pm-A Kidnapped man from neighboring Lynwood was rescued today, and three men are  being questioned as part of the investigation, which led to the search of a residence in Huntington Park. The abduction occurred on Tuesday afternoon, said Nicole Nishida of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
